God brought an interesting realization to me this morning that has to do with getting my hopes up for various things in life. I've heard the phrase, "Don't get my/your hopes up." What God brought to mind was this:
My frustration towards a given certain situation or set of circumstances stemmed from getting my hopes up because of a possibility instead of the One that provided it.

Me: Lord, I need this to be done. I'm worn out and tired of waiting for something to happen, here.
God: Wait.
Me: What!? After today and the previous couple of months!?
God: Wait.
Me: I'm tired of waiting. I'm frustrated and angry about all of this.
God: I know you are, but just wait.
Me: I'm at the end of my rope here!
God: The rope is longer than you think. I know it's hard on you now, but just wait.
Me: Why?
God: Because I said so. It's good for you to wait, right now. Trust me.

When furthering convergence of real life with online data something has to give. People will cut back on something. Commenting, for one, has become too noisy on blogs, in my opinion. People will trim the fat and time involved in managing comments which typically are negative or distract entirely from the information presented.
I don't believe that ALL commenting is bad. I just see that more people are seeing how time-consuming it is to manage and need to cut back on offering that as a communication method on their website.

We've been extremely blessed to have received so much work from word of mouth the past six years, but I've noticed I need to be doing more work on the marketing front to get the type of projects I'm interested in.
I've been working on some new things for my company website. This will include more graphics for the site itself and is something I don't always have the time for, but need to make the time to just get some of my ideas finished to stand out more in a rather flooded market.

I like Facebook. I do. The problem I have is with the ads. I'm a happily married man and father and I don't want to see ads targeting me with large-chested women, scantily clad women with sports cars and risque mafia-related ads.
I know a lot of people would say, "Well, don't use Facebook, then. It's their platform and they can monetize it how they want."
I agree. Here's my problem, though.

I once had a client get mad at me because I decided to refund his deposit instead of struggling with his extreme nit-picky behavior.
We were only a couple of days into the the project which had mainly consisted of a couple of meetings and a brochure mockup. I think he was taken a back when I preferred to drop him as a client instead of get intimidated and bend to his every whim.
His parting words: "You'll be sorry! This product could have changed your family tree!"
Self-important people with anger issues always say funny things.
What About You?
What have you heard or what have people said to you that wound up being funny despite their angry attitude?

Had a lot on my mind and couldn't get to sleep. These verses certainly put all of these various things into a more focused and properly prioritized perspective:

I was watching TV while washing some dishes tonight and I noticed the St. Jude commercials where Marlo Thomas says, "Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not."
I've always thought that was a great slogan and thoughtfully done, but tonight the question came to mind: "But who are they giving thanks to?" I've heard a lot of PSA's (Public Service Announcements) and commercials that talk about giving thanks, but when you think about it, doesn't it seem odd that they never say who we're supposed to give thanks to?

I've been meditating more on God's announcements of His Son to the world based in Luke 2:8-20. How awesome it must have been for the dirty, smelly, low rungs on the social ladder that were known as shepherds. They were rough around the edges, but they had to be. They worked long nights guarding sheep from predators and making sure the property entrusted to them stayed together. It certainly wasn't a glamorous life and most in society didn't think too highly of them.
Had God picked our time to announce the birth of Christ I believe He would have done so at a truck stop. I don't have anything against truck drivers, at all. Its just that the nature of their business is more in line with the shepherds. They are tough, hard-working, and work long hours to protect and deliver the cargo they are tasked with carrying. Nobody in society really thanks them for their work despite how most benefit from it. We just don't think about it, really.
